When Surface updates are provided via the Windows Update service, they are delivered in stages. As a result, the delivery of the updates will be staggered. While updating your Surface device it is best to plug in to a power outlet and stay connected to the Internet. If you have a Surface Typing Cover or Surface docking station, make sure they’re attached before you turn on your Surface so they get the latest updates, too. While Windows Update will install all applicable updates automatically, you can also install updates manually, vis Update & Security Setting. Click on Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If you have a Surface 3, Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4, or Surface Book, you can download a single update file directly to your Surface and install updates manually. But You cannot download and install Surface updates manually on Surface Pro or Surface Pro 2.
