Remove Username from Office 365 Title Bar

Office 365 is designed to work with a Microsoft Account. So, you need to have a Microsoft account. If you don’t have it, you’ll need to create one. Once you are done with it, the name you’ve used for your Microsoft account will be visible under the title bar for all Office 365 apps. If you are not so inclined to see it, you can remove the name via a simple Registry hack. For this: There’s no alternative way to remove it so, we’ll need to modify Registry Settings. Please note that serious changes can occur if you make the changes to the Registry Editor incorrectly. Before proceeding further, create a backup of your system. Press Win+R in combination to open the ‘Run’ dialog box. Type ‘regedit.exe’ in the empty field of the box that appears and press the Enter key. Once done, go to following Registry configuration key –

There will be several sub-folder visible under it. Click open every sub-folder and see if you can find an entry with the following name in the right-pane – FriendlyName. When seen, double-click the entry. You’ll notice the name that is visible on the Title bar of the Office 365 apps, appears under ‘Edit String’ box.

Now, to remove or clear the username from Office 365 apps Title Bar, delete the name from the box. Close the Registry Editor and exit.

Hereafter, you should no more see the username under Office apps Title bar. Let us know if you were able to do it.
