You can use four colors to highlight PDF text (including hyperlinks). The available colors are Pink, Light Blue, Green, and Yellow. When you are done with highlighting PDF document, you can save a separate copy of that PDF with all the highlighted text. This post will help you how you can highlight PDF files and save those highlighted PDFs using Microsoft Edge. The screenshot below shows an example of a PDF file that is highlighted with separate colors using the Microsoft Edge browser.

Microsoft Edge doesn’t come with PDF editing features like edit PDF text, add a text box, resize images, etc. There are already some free PDF editor software available to do that. But, if you are looking for a browser with a PDF text highlighting feature, then Microsoft Edge is definitely a better option to try. Let’s see how to do this.

How to Highlight Text in PDF in Microsoft Edge

Launch the Microsoft Edge browser and then open a PDF file in it. When PDF is opened, select some text for highlighting. Right-click on the selected text and access ‘Highlight‘ option visible in the right-click context menu. Green, Pink, Yellow, and Light Blue color options are there. Select your preferred color and the text will be highlighted with that color.

You can repeat the above steps to highlight any other text in that PDF document. While highlighting the text, you should be careful because you can’t use Eraser or Undo (Ctrl+Z) to unhighlight the text. If that happens, you need to start again. So, just make sure you are highlighting the right text. If you are just trying the feature, then simply highlight any text.

Save Highlighted PDF using Microsoft Edge

The above part clears how you can highlight any text content available in a PDF file using Microsoft Edge. Now, when the PDF is highlighted, you should save it for later use. To save the highlighted PDF, you can press the shortcut ‘Ctrl+S‘ or use ‘Save‘ icon appears on the right corner just above the PDF file.

When the Save As window is opened, select any location on your PC, and save the highlighted PDF.

Use Highlighted PDF

Now you have the PDF with all the highlighted content, you can open that PDF in any browser or some PDF reader or viewer. You will see all that highlighted text in that PDF viewer/reader. Highlighting PDF document and saving the highlighted PDF with Microsoft Edge has benefitted me a lot of times. It will also be beneficial to many other users who use Microsoft Edge regularly to read PDF documents and want to highlight PDF text.
