Bharat Operating System Solutions is an Indian Linux distribution derived from Debian. BOSS Linux is officially released in four editions:

BOSS Desktop,EduBOSS,BOSS Advanced Server andBOSS MOOL.

It is developed by CDAC and is customized to suit India’s digital environment. The Government of India endorses it and pushes for its large-scale adoption and implementation on a national level. BOSS has been upgraded from an entry-level server to an advanced server supporting Intel and AMD x86/x86-64 architecture. With unique features, which include a web server, proxy server, database server, mail server, network server, file and print server, SMS server, and an LDAP server, the advanced server comprises administration tools such as Webmin, a web-based interface, Gadmin, PHP myadmin, PHP LDAP admin, PG admin. The latest version of BOSS LINUX, the BOSS GNU/Linux Version, is coupled with GNOME and KDE Desktop Environment support.
