When trying to open links such as Quip or Zoom, you can see the prompt to open in the correct application, however, the message – ‘Always open these types of links in the associated app’ may not be visible. Please note that the method involves making changes to the Registry Editor. Serious changes can occur if you make the changes to the Registry Editor incorrectly. Please proceed carefully and create a system restore point first. Press Win+R in combination to bring up the ‘Run’ dialog box. Type ‘regedit’ in the empty field of the box and press ‘Enter’.

In the new window that opens, navigate to the following path address – If the Google key does not exist, create it. For this, right-click the ‘Policies’ key and select New>Key from the context menu. Then, name it as ‘Google’. Thereafter, right-click the Google key, select New > Key. Name the new key as ‘Chrome’.

After having completed the above step, right-click the Chrome key and select New>DWORD (32-bit) Value from the context menu. Give this value the following name –

Double-click on this entry and in the Value data box that appears set the value to 1.

Close the Registry Editor and restart your browser. The ‘Always open these types of links in the associated app’ message in Chrome will be restored.
